Volumetric weight calculator

Compare the actual weight and volumetric weight of your packages using divisors from major carriers. Instantly identify which weight will be charged.

What is volumetric weight?

Volumetric weight reflects the space a package occupies in a vehicle relative to its actual weight. Carriers always charge whichever is higher to make each shipment profitable.

Formula

(Length × Width × Height) ÷ divisor

The standard divisor is 5,000 (express) or 6,000 (road).

Examples

Vol. weight higher than actual

A 60 × 40 × 40 cm package weighing 5 kg:

(60 × 40 × 40) ÷ 5 000 = 19,20 kg vol.

The carrier will charge 19,20 kg (volumetric), as it exceeds 5 kg (actual).

Vol. weight lower than actual

A 30 × 20 × 15 cm package weighing 10 kg:

(30 × 20 × 15) ÷ 5 000 = 1,80 kg vol.

The carrier will charge 10 kg (actual), as it exceeds 1,80 kg (volumetric).
